BANGI, August 12 – Halal industry has been highly demanded all over the world. Malaysia as a pioneer in the Halal Management and Certification industry since 1974 has successfully developed Halal standard and Halal Certification Bodies which has been recognized all over the world.
Malaysia through Institute of Islamic Training Malaysia (ILIM), under the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) organised the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) on The Administration of National Halal Certification Body, a five-day online training course, held from 8 until 12 August 2022 has attracted 11 international participants from various countries namely Mexico, Bosnia and Hezegovina, Qatar, the Philippines and Cambodia. The programme was officiated by YB Senator Datuk Haji Idris bin Haji Ahmad, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs).
“The Government of Malaysia has formulated the Halal Industry Master Plan 2030 to drive the growth of the industry and to make Malaysia a global leader in the halal value chain,” said YB Senator Datuk Haji Idris bin Haji Ahmad, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) during the Officiating Closing Ceremony.
He said the training provided an understanding to develop halal certification body in the participant country which recognized by Malaysian Halal Standards and enhancing awareness about Malaysia as a centre of Halal related education.
Malaysia was the exemplary reference for countries which in need of expertise in Halal industry. It is necessary for Malaysia to provide training in establishment of Halal Certification Bodies for nations around the world. The training is very important for the players in Halal industry to understand the terms and conditions which need to be fulfilled before it has been recognized by Malaysia and global communities as an authorized Halal Certification Body.
The closing ceremony was also attended by YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Sirajuddin bin Suhaimee, the Deputy Director-General of Policy, Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) and Tuan Haji Aminudin bin Mohamad, Senior Director, Institute of Islamic Training Malaysia (ILIM), JAKIM and Puan Farah Fazarina Mohamad, Principal Assistant Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“Furthermore, this training programme includes lectures and briefings by experts from Halal Department, Duopharma Biotech Berhad, QSR Brands (M) Holdings Bhd, Brahim's Airline Catering Sdn Bhd and Department of Standards Malaysia, participation in case studies and also country experience-sharing.
The MTCP is a yearly programme under ILIM and is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
